Mocha, a Love-A-Bull Legacy

Every pet that enters our lives is special. Each of them has their own personality, their own funny quirks and their own way of expressing their love for us. While every pet touches our lives, there are those that change them forever.

This week, I am heartbroken for a friend and fellow animal rescuer who lost her dear pooch, Mocha. Mocha was not only her best friend, but Mocha was a life-changer as well. Not just for his amazing mom, Lydia, but for hundreds - no, thousands - of people and dogs.

You see, Lydia is the co-founder of Love-A-Bull, Inc, a pit-bull advocacy organization located in Austin, TX. Love-A-Bull is responsible for saving the lives of hundreds of pit bull type dogs since it's start in 2003. One of the dogs that inspired it all... Mocha.

Mocha received her therapy certification 4 years ago and has spent countless hours sharing her compassion and friendly spirit with everyone from disabled children and adults to our soldiers. Mocha was happy to offer up a kiss and a tail wag to anyone she met.

Sadly, Mocha was diagnosed with cancer and yesterday after fighting for some time, Mocha lost her battle. As she passed, the rain began to fall outside....

Mocha's spirit and legacy will live on, as she has touched many lives and showed us that being a dog of a specific breed or stereotype does not determine the amount of love one can give.

Love-A-Bull, Inc (a 501(c)3 organization) was formed in 2003 and received their 501(c)3 status in 2008. Dedicated to educating and advocating on behalf of pit bull type dogs, Love-A-Bull has quickly become one of the largest and most successful Pit Bull Advocacy organizations in the country. Each year, Love-A-Bull hosts their annual Pit Bull Awareness Day, in which thousands of pit bull lovers and hundreds of pit bull type dogs gather together to celebrate our love for the breed as well as offering the general public a view of the real attitude of these pooches, their loving, playful nature!

I have been honored to participate in Pit Bull Awareness Day since it's start and plan to continue offering my support for this amazing organization.
