To date, I have had the opportunity to meet hundreds of amazing animal rescuers. The people behind Biggies Bullies, the rescue chosen for this month's fundraiser are no exception!
Biggies Bullies was founded by Allison Stetz, a life-long Bully breed lover who moved to Pittsburgh from a small town near Buffalo, NY. Her first rescue, Biggie, was a bait puppy found in a bad area of Rochester, NY. Biggie was just seven weeks old and found at a gas station, obviously needing someone to love him. Since the day she rescued Biggie, Allison has been fighting for bully breeds everywhere and dedicates her time to saving these magnificent dogs!
Since it's start, Biggies Bullies has rescued and rehomed 37 dogs, quite a feat for a small rescue that has between 5 and 7 foster homes available at any given time. Luckily, Allison and her team have recruited 6-10 awesome regular volunteers to help out on a regular basis with events and to pitch in when help is needed.
Nici (pronounced Nee-See) was an owner surrender to Biggies Bullies. She is three years old and loves kids, although she prefers older kids.
Rome is a handsome, gentle boy who was abandoned at a boarding facility. He is four years old and just makes everyone laugh with his goofy antics. He loves to go for long walks and cuddle with anyone that will give him attention. He gets along great with other dogs and dog-savvy cats!
Sweet Sandy came to Biggies Bullies after spending most of her life neglected outside alone. She is about 3 years old and loves other dogs (but prefers not to be around those pesky cats)!
April was abandoned by her owners at the Vet office after she broke her leg. Fortunately, one of the technicians on duty fell in love with her and helped her through her rehab process. Once she was healed up, the Vet Tech contacted Biggies Bullies and April is now happy in her foster home. April loves other dogs and is a huge fan of baby pools, where she can splash and lounge on a hot summer day!.
Biggies Bullies is always looking for new volunteers or foster families to join their mission! If you are in the Pittsburgh area and looking for a great local organization to work with, visit their website to learn more!
All month long, Biggies Bullies is our featured rescue, with all four of their adoptable pups having portraits available for sale. 100% of the portrait sale will be donated to BB - or you can scoop up another fun item (jewelry, tote bags, prints or greeting cards) where 25% of the sale will be donated to Biggies Bullies!
